“Click” a promoter of traditional family values

By Aaron Kinney

I recently saw the new Adam Sandler film “Click”. You would think it would be a comedy film, or that’s what the previews wanted you to think.

Most Hollywood actors are liberals, and yes, that’s a generalization, but a correct one. You have the occasional conservative celebrity (like Robert Duvall, who has donated money towards John McCain’s (R-AR) bid for President in 2000). But for the most part, you’ll see celebrity poster-boys for animal rights (a large proportion of actors and actresses actively campaign for PETA, etc.), feminism (Charlize Theron, Cheryl Crow, Susan Sarandon), and abortion.

I don’t know if they were aware of it or not, but Click, which was released in theaters on the 23rd of last month, is a film that promotes traditional family values. It revolves around Michael Newman (Sandler), a workaholic family-man attempting to balance the two, but somehow work always comes first. His professional work is causing strains on his relationship with his children and with his wife (Kate Beckinsale). Ultimately, he receives a remote that can fast-forward his life. He uses it for the most unconditional things, such as fast-forwarding arguments with his wife and getting through traffic. Ultimately, she divorces him, his father dies, and he misses out on the most important part of his life, family. In the end, he is spared and everything has been rewinded back to the the beginning because he was willing to die for his family.

I cried two times during this film, and I’m not ashamed to reveal that. I find this film an incredible soapbox for announcing the importance and hegemony of the family over many things. God, Country, Family, three of the most important words we’ll ever hear.

First, McCain is from Arizona, not Arkansas. It should read “McCain’s (R-AZ)

And second, Duvall might be conservative, but donating to McCain doesn’t make him so. He could have donated to McCain so that Bush may lose, or he realizes that McCain isn’t al that much of a conservative. He runs as one, but votes as a compassionate republican and sometimes a liberal. He is a turncoat. He wanted to give the POWs in Gitmo rights that you and I have. He opposes almost all that Bush does or wants, maybe he just can’t let go of the 2000 primaries.

I knew he was from Arizona. They both begin with “Ar–” so can you cut me a break here? We all make mistakes sometimes.

McCain isn’t a liberal or a conservative. He’s a moderate. But if I had to say anything I’d say he is more of a conservative (Pro-life, supported the 2003 Invasion of Iraq). He didn’t donate to Gore’s campaign either, and if you’ll think (which I doubt you will), Gore is a raving lunatic environmentalist with extreme leftist tendencies.

Just because you believe that prisoners have freedom doesn’t make you a liberal. I wish more people would understand that, but most believe that conservatives are “heartless,” “tax-hungry,” fascists. Or most liberals make them out to be, I wonder if they’ve gotten to you as well.

The POWS you speak of are mostly terrorists that don’t need rights (not POWS as you claim), those same rights that they could not afford many of us. They kill in the name of Allah, and brutally murder and rape innocent civilians. Indeed, there are very few innocent prisoners there, and they need to be emancipated. The rest can stay and if McCain and others want to help them that is fine, but we need to remember to give them their punishment for the crimes they have committed.

Oh yes, I forgot to tell you, Duvall appeared on the O’Reilly Factor some weeks ago and stated that he is a conservative. I guess I pulled a slick one on you that time.

Whoa there. McCain is a moderate, but he doesn’t seem to lean to the right. He runs here in AZ as a strong Conservative, but he gets in congress and loses his backbone.

The POWs need to be punished, yes, but they don’t need to be living in the lap of luxury. I only use McCain’s bill as an example because he is a compassionate republican. I’m not saying that believing they have freedoms make anybody a liberal, that just means they are ignorant. Sure, they have some freedoms, but they are not “free.” But, wanting to give these people all the freedoms that we have in our Bill of Rights seems a bit left.

Don’t worry, the liberals haven’t gotten to me, nor will they ever. And what do you mean you doubt that I’ll think. Do you think I am a liberal? Not a chance. Those are some pretty bold assumptions you are making. And everybody knows that Gore is some crazy man who is pursuing a lost, made up cause called “global warming.”

And now that you mention it, I did see Duval on the Factor. But just because he backs up McCain, doesn’t prove he is conservative, several libs endorse him when he is up for reelection.

I did assume you’re a liberal. I guess that was false judgement on my part and I apologize for that. And if I came across a little rude there then I apologize for that too. But congratulations on getting me on the defensive ;).
